I have not used my Ultimate Box and Card for a while and now the Ultimate Box is no longer recognizing inserted Ultimate Card in Ultimate Explorer, but everything was working before?

I have Ultimate Card ver.III that I use with my PFAFF machine, everytime I transfer one or more designs to the card, they would disappear from the card with in day or so, and before the designs would stay for month or so. Is my card damaged, can it be fixed?

I have transferred 12 designs to the Ultimate Card but when I insert the card in my embroidery machine only 5 designs show up on my screen?


Problem:
a)

Solution:
DRIVER MUST BE INSTALLED: Click on the link below to download USBDriver.exe on your computer, use RUN button to download and start WinZip Self_Extractor, click on UNZIP button to unzip files in C:\Ultimate_Box_USB_Driver folder.

WINDOWS VISTA(32bit system):
1. With Ultimate Box connected, Right click on Computer, select Properties, click on Device Manager. In the list of the devices double click on item with yellow question/exclamation mark Reader/Writer Box, click on Driver tab then click on Update Driver button.
2. Update Wizard opens up, use an option to “Locate and Install driver software”, then select “I don’t have the disk. Show me other options.”, then select “Browse My computer for driver software” then click on the Browse button and browse to the folder C:\Ultimate_Box_USB_Driver, double click on this folder to select and press OK button, the white box under Include this location in the search should show C:\Ultimate_Box_USB_Driver, click NEXT to continue.
3. Note!!! Windows Security message will be shown: Windows can’t verify the publisher of this driver software.
Use INSTALL THIS DRIVER SOFTWARE ANYWAY option to finish installation.
Click CLOSE button to finish installation.
At this point the light on the Ultimate Box should be ON.

WINDOWS XP:
1. With Ultimate Box connected, Right click on My Computer, select Properties, click on HARDWARE tab, click on Device Manager button. In the list of the devices double click on item with yellow question/exclamation mark Reader/Writer Box, click on Driver tab then click on Update Driver button.
2. Update Wizard opens up, use an option to Install from the list of specific location and click NEXT, uncheck Search Removable Media, and place check mark next to Include this location in the search then click on the Browse button and browse to the folder C:\Ultimate_Box_USB_Driver, double click on this folder to select and press OK button, the white box under Include this location in the search should show C:\Ultimate_Box_USB_Driver, click NEXT to continue.
3. Note!!! In WindowsXP the following message will be shown: The software you are installing for this hardware: Card Reader/Writer has not passed Windows LOGO testing to verify it is compatibility with Windows XP. Continuing the installation of this software may impair or destabilize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future. Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop the installation now and contact the hardware vendor for software that has passed the Windows LOGO testing.
Use CONTINUE ANYWAY option to finish installation.
Click FINISH button to finish installation.
At this point the light on the Ultimate Box should be ON.

 


Problem: What free software can I use to transfer designs with my Ultimate Box, Ultimate Box II?

Solution:
The following procedure will install Ultimate Box Standalone Software on your computer and create a shortcut on your Windows desktop. 1. Download stand alone copy of Ultimate Box transferring software: http://www.vikant-emb.com/UltimateExplorerSetUp.exe
2. Choose "SAVE" ("save to disk") at download dialog box.
3. Browse to and select a folder (such as your computer's Desktop) to save UltimateExplorerSetUp.exe
4. Double click on UltimateExplorerSetUp.exe and follow the onscreen installation instructions.
5. Select the Language, ENGLISH, and press CONTINUE to continue.
6. On the Set Up window, press YES to continue.
7. On the Choose Installation Directory, choose new installation location or click CONTINUE to install in default location.
8. Click YES, to create a new Installation Directory Folder.
9. Click OK to the massage Installation Successful to finish. Close the browser window.
10. When installation is completed, double-click on ULTIMATE EXPLORER icon on the desktop to start the program.

If you use Windows VISTA, you need to check the compatibility mode: Make sure Ultimate Explorer is closed. Right click on the Ultimate Explorer and select properties. Last tab should say "Compatibility", click on it. Make sure that "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" is checked, WINDOWS XP is selected from drop down box, click OK and try to open Ultimate Explorer again.

Problem: How do I use downsizing option for designs in my Ultimate Box PLUS software?

Solution:
The basic idea is to have all setting set before submitting a design into the card area for writing it to the card.
Here is what you want to do before you submit the design in the card area:
1. Click on TOOLS and select Card Format Preferences, in the preferences screen enter the needed hoop size in MAX. SIZE fields and click OK (i.e. 4 by 4 inches is equaled to 100mm by 100mm)
2. Click on DESIGN and make sure that Automatically Reduce Designs to Fit Hoop has a check mark next to it, if does not then click on that option and check mark will appear.
3. Then select and submit design down in the card area and it will be automatically reduced to needed size, hover the mouse over the design in the card area to see new size and stitch count information.
4. Write design to the card and use it in your embroidery machine.

Another way is to do STEP1, then select the design in the top right window (where it is showing designs on your computer) then click on FIT button, new resized design will be resized and stored on your computer right next to the original one with % sign at the end of the name show the reduction, then proceed to STEP3 and 4.


Problem: I have not used my Ultimate Box and Card for a while and now the Ultimate Box is no longer recognizing inserted Ultimate Card in Ultimate Explorer, but everything was working before?

Solution:
Disconnect the Ultimate Box from the computer and power. Hold the box with one and with another insert and pull out the card, make sure to insert the card straight in by pushing in the center or equally apply pressure on each corner of the card, pull the card straight out of box. Repeat it up to 5 -10 times, then connect the box back to your computer, connect the power, insert the card and open Ultimate Explorer software.


Problem: I have Ultimate Card ver.III that I use with my PFAFF machine, everytime I transfer one or more designs to the card, they would disappear from the card with in day or so, and before the designs would stay for month or so. Is my card damaged, can it be fixed?

Solution:
The problem occurs because the card battery lost the charge, since the card is rechargeable you need make sure that the battery is fully charged. Insert the card into your embroidery machine and allow charging the card in the machine for at least 4-6 hours, with the machine turned ON, it is probably better to leave the card with the machine on overnight. Transfer design as you normally do and test it.

If the card is programmed directly in you embroidery machine, after the charge is completed you will need clear and renumber the card:
1. Turn OFF the machine.
2. Insert the card, while holding the card button down, turn the machine ON.
3. The machine will ask you clear the card and renumber the card (any number will work).
4. Repeat this procedure twice to make sure insure that the card is cleared. (recommended).
5. Make sure to use the card at least once every six month, so the battery in card gets charged.
Transfer design as you normally do and test it.


Problem: I have transferred 12 designs to the Ultimate Card but when I insert the card in my embroidery machine only 5 designs show up on my screen?

Solution:
The problem is not with the Ultimate Card, we have come across this problem before, the problem is with designs that you have put on the card, to be exact the problem is with one of the designs you have put on the Ultimate Card. If you write several designs to the card and one of them is corrupted, it will corrupt the rest of the designs on the card, that why you see only few in your embroidery machine. The easiest way to determine which design is bad is to go through the elimination process:
Let’s say you have 20 designs on the card and one is corrupted, how do you determine which one is bad?
1. Divide these 20 designs in two groups of 10 and 10.
2. Write first 10 designs to the card and test with your embroidery machine if you see all 10 designs come up in your embroidery machine, it means they are good and the corrupted design is in the second group.
3. Write second 10 designs to the card and test with your embroidery machine; you should see the problem as you had before that only few designs show out of ten written.
4. Write first 5 designs to the card and test with your embroidery machine if you see all 5 designs come up in your embroidery machine, it means they are good and the corrupted design is in the second group.
5. Write second 5 designs to the card and test with your embroidery machine; you should see the problem as you had before that only few designs show out of five written.
6. You can continue dividing designs in the group of 2 and 3, and repeat writing and testing procedure OR with 5 designs left you can write individually each design to the card, test in your embroidery machine and you will find that one of them is corrupted.
7. Final step, write good 19 designs to the card, insert the card in your embroidery machine, all 19 designs will show up.
